Today, we are excited to introduce John Bacopulos, our passionate and talented Junior Developer Intern from Toronto, Canada. John has quickly become an integral part of the MonetizeNow team, so let’s dive in and get to know him a little better!
Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your background?
Hi, my name is John, and I’m from Toronto, Canada. I’m currently the Junior Developer Intern at MonetizeNow.
What University or College are you currently attending?
I’m currently enrolled at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
What is your major or area of study?
I am in the Engineering program at McMaster - McMaster implements a general first-year engineering program, and having just finished this, I’ve selected to specialize in Computer Engineering.
What attracted you to MonetizeNow for your internship?
There were multiple reasons I was drawn to MonetizeNow, but above all for the experience of working at a company that is at the forefront of the fintech space, specifically with CPQ & Billing. Additionally, I was excited about the prospect of learning valuable skills from working with the team at MonetizeNow.
What are your career aspirations or long-term professional goals?
I plan to graduate from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Engineering, and to work in the tech industry, whether that’s programming, system development/engineering, etc. Ultimately, I aspire to one day have my own startup, which makes my experience here especially valuable.
Are there specific skills or areas of expertise that you hope to develop during your internship?
I feel as though I’ve already massively expanded my skillset by being in the innovative environment at MonetizeNow, however, I hope to gain some more experience with Kotlin, as well as potentially exploring some AI integration into our product.
What has been your favorite part of your internship so far?
My favorite part of the internship to this point has been the projects I’ve been working on and the people here at the company. The work that I’ve been doing has been so interesting and engaging to me, as I get to explore areas that I never would have thought about. In addition, I’ve found the company culture to be super accepting and positive, which I feel has made my internship even more rewarding.
What advice would you give to future interns?
I would say to future interns that it is crucial to be eager to learn, open minded, and resilient. These traits will make you able to tackle the tough projects you will work on by asking questions when you are unsure, but also not be afraid to make mistakes, since in my opinion, that is the best way to learn.
